چکیده

There has been a significant increase in the use of multi-agent social-network models due to their ability to flexibly model emergent behaviors in complex sociotechnical systems while linking to real data. These models are growing in size and complexity which requires significant time and effort for calibration, validation, model-improvement, and to gain understanding as to why the models behave as they do. In this paper, we present our knowledge-based simulation-aided approach for automating model-improvement and WIZER, our tool implementing this approach. WIZER is capable of calibrating and validating multi-agent social-network models, and facilitates model-improvement and understanding. By employing knowledge-based search, causal analysis, and simulation control and inference techniques, WIZER can reduce the number of simulation runs needed to calibrate, validate, and improve a model and improve the focus of these runs. We ran a preliminary version of WIZER on BioWar – a city-scale social agent network simulation of the effects of weaponized biological attacks on a demographically-realistic population within a background of naturally-occurring diseases. The results demonstrate the efficacy of WIZER.

WIZER: What-If Analyzer for Automated Social Model Space Exploration and Validation

_________________________________________________________________ Complex social problems modeled by multi-agent systems have very large parameter and model space. The problem of how to model, validate, detect, and plan for the event of bioterrorism is one of the these, as it requires faithful modeling of dynamic signal (bioattack event) from complex dynamic noise (normal disease outbreaks and ...

The Design of Automated Validation and Explanation for Large-Scale Social Agent Systems

Socio-technical problems, such as how smallpox outbreaks would spread in and affect modern societies, often have complex interrelated parts that defy simple mathematical analyses. A promising toolkit to solve these problems is large-scale multi-agent models, whose subsets with stochastic and knowledge-intensive networked interactions are social agent models. The value of these models and their ...

Adaptive Neural Network Method for Consensus Tracking of High-Order Mimo Nonlinear Multi-Agent Systems

This paper is concerned with the consensus tracking problem of high order MIMO nonlinear multi-agent systems. The agents must follow a leader node in presence of unknown dynamics and uncertain external disturbances. The communication network topology of agents is assumed to be a fixed undirected graph. A distributed adaptive control method is proposed to solve the consensus problem utilizing re...

Fault Detection and Isolation of Multi-Agent Systems via Complex Laplacian

This paper studies the problem of fault detection and isolation (FDI) for multi-agent systems (MAS) via complex Laplacian subject to actuator faults. A planar formation of point agents in the plane using simple and linear interaction rules related to complex Laplacian is achieved. The communication network is a directed, and yet connected graph with a fixed topology. The loss of symmetry in the...
